1. Go up to “File” at the top left


2. select “Download”
3. Download as a “Microsoft PowerPoint”
4. You will need to click the “Enable Edit” bar at the top to edit.
5. Ignore any pop-ups about format but just hitting okay
6. Save to your computer in Your English 11 Folder (here is a video on how to create a folder)

Once it is save as a PowerPoint- you can open up hyperlinks by right clicking the link and selecting “open hyperlink”

WHERE YOU SHOULD BE

• At this point in your research, you have developed research questions, gathered
sources and taken notes using correct documentation and Note Cards.
• Now it is time to synthesize and organize your notes in order to begin the drafting
stages of the writing process.
THESIS STATEMENT

• Your thesis statement is the main controlling point of your paper. It should be the big
idea that everything else in your paper connects to and supports.
YOUR THESIS STATEMENT SHOULD

• State the main point of your paper.


• Be an idea or theory that can be proven or disproven.
• Be located in the beginning of your paper, usually near the end of the first paragraph.

Make sure your thesis statement flows naturally into the rest of your introduction.

A thesis that has the topic as the subject and clearly states a point to be proven about that
topic will be recognized by the reader as your thesis.
WHAT TO AVOID:

Thesis statements should never be announced with phrases such as the following:
•  In this paper, I will prove . . .
• My essay is about . . .
