Renewable Energy Resources

 Renewable energy is energy that comes from a source that won't run out.
 They are natural and self-replenishing, and usually have a low- or zero-
carbon footprint.
 Examples of renewable energy sources include wind power, solar power,
bioenergy (organic matter burned as a fuel) and hydroelectric,
including tidal energy.
Hydroelectric

 Hydropower, or hydroenergy, is a form of renewable energy that uses

the water stored in dams, as well as flowing in rivers to create
electricity in hydropower plants.
 Hydropower, or hydroelectric power, is one of the oldest and largest
sources of renewable energy, which uses the natural flow of moving
water to generate electricity.
Advantages and disadvantages of
hydroelectric energy
Advantage Disadvantages
 Renewable  Environmental consequences
 Low emissions  Expensive to build
 Reliable  Drought potential
 Safe  Limited reserves
biomass

 Biomass energy is energy generated or produced by living or once-living

organisms.
 The most common biomass materials used for energy are plants, such as
corn and soy, above.
 The energy from these organisms can be burned to create heat or
converted into electricity.
Advantages and Disadvantages of Biomass
energy
Advantage Disadvantages
 Reliable  Requires space
 Abundant  Greenhouse gas emissions
 Waste reduction  Environmental impact
 Carbon-neutral  Inefficient
 Reduces the overreliance of fossil  Changes in Land Use
