DEVELOPMENT A
The shaping of towers: The building is a square tower. N
Charles Correa created gaps in that tower. The two C
floors high loggias are created to keep out the sun and
take in the cool sea breeze. H
A
DESIGN
N
In Mumbai, the east-west axis provides a profound vista J
of the Arabian sea and the harbor. However, it also U
experiences the scorching heat of the afternoon sun and
N
heavy monsoon rains. As the building was a high riser,
these problems were inevitable and escalated with G
height. It was critical to find the middle line that A
optimizes the site’s context without suffering its climatic
issues.

PROGRAM AND TYPOLOGY
K
● The building structure includes two apartments on each floor,
A
with split dwellings. The bedrooms of these typologies vary from
3 to 6 and have separate balconies for living and bedroom N
areas. C
● The verandas in these apartments are cantilevered up to 6.3m,
H
creating a secondary shield from the monsoon rains and
afternoon sun. The double-story verandahs invite profound A
visual connectivity between the condo and the urban vista. N
