László Bíró (1899 - 1985)
The ballpoints pen
- Invented the right, viscose ink with the help of his brother, a chemist.
- While working as a journalist Bíró noticed that the ink used in newspaper printing dried
quickly, leaving the paper dry and smudge-free.
- In many countries ‘golyóstoll’ is still called ‘biro’.

Ernő Rubik (1944 - )
Rubik’s cube
- The rubik's cube was invented in 1974 by Hungarian sculptor and
architecture professor Ernő Rubik.
- It was at first called 'Magic cube' and sold as a puzzle. Today, it's the
world's best-selling puzzle.
- Did you know that there are 'speedcubers', people who solve
Rubik's cubes as fast as they can? The world record is currently held
by Feliks Zemdegs, with astounding 4.37 seconds but Justin Bieber
can do it within 2 minutes..

Sándor Körösi Csoma (1784-1842) - ‘Explorer’

- Great linguist
- Could read and write in more than 20 languages
- Lived in Far East (Távol -kelet)
- English-Tibetan dictionary
- First European to be made Buddhist saint by the Japanese

- Explored the East African region


- Climbed the Kilimanjaro, never on the peak
- Volcano and plant are named after him

Kálmán Kittenberger (1881-1958) - Zoologist, hunter

- Collected hundred of species for the Hungarian National
Museum (Magyar Nemzeti Múzeum)
