SYNOPSIS
A PLAY SYNOPSIS IS A BRIEF SUMMARY OF
THE PLOT, CHARACTERS, AND THEMES OF A
PLAY.
INTRODUCTION

• The introduction of a play is typically


referred to as the “exposition.”
PLOT

Is the sequence of events on which the


story happens.
CHARACTER

• The synopsis should introduce the


main characters, including their
names and a brief description of their
roles in the play.
TWO TYPES OF
CHARACTERS
• PROTAGONIST- The main character
of the story.
• ANTAGONIST- The anti or villain of
the story.
TONE

• The synopsis may indicate the tone of the


play.
LENGTH

• It should be concise.
CONCLUSION

• The synopsis should conclude with a brief


statement that leaves the reader with a
sense of the play’s overall impact and
significance.

In writing a play synopsis, can we include anything that does


not appear in the original text. Do we have to include
personal comments or evaluation?

write their own version of the
synopsis of the play.
