Title of the issue :E pollutants from E-waste

Title of the Article: WHO/Electronic Waste

Source: World Health Organization (WHO)

Author: Anna Kari

Summary Narrative:

With the usage of Electrical and Electronic equipment (EEE) on the rise, the amount of electric a land Electronic waste produced each day is equally
growing enormously around the globe. Recycling of valuable elements contained in E–waste such as copper and gold has become a source of
income mostly in the informal sector or developing or emerging countries. However, primitive recycling techniques such as burning cables for
retaining the inherent copper expose both adult and child workers as well as their families to a range of hazardous substances. Children are
especially vulnerable to the health risks that may result from E-waste exposure and therefore, need more protection. Indeed, various international
calls for action have highlighted the needs of strategic interventions in the field of E-waste, and its pollution.
What lesson have you learned?

When e-waste is exposed to the heat, toxic chemicals are released into the air damaging the atmosphere; this is one of
the biggest environmental impacts of e-waste. Those toxic materials can then seep into the groundwater, affecting both
land and sea animals. Electronic waste can also contribute to air pollution.

What suggestions can you offer?

Important Tip: Reduce, Reuse, Recycle

It is important to reduce the amount of electronic waste we discard. Reusing and repurposing old electronics can help
slow the spread of e-waste. If you have a device that is no longer being used, it's important to recycle it responsibly.

Why is the Philippine government crafting policies for ICT integration in teaching and learning?

They are attracted to the prospect that ICT can improve student achievement, improve access to schooling, increase
efficiencies and reduce costs, enhance students' ability to learn and promote their lifelong learning, and prepare them
for a globally competitive workforce.

Do you think national policies in ICT in education are important in the attainment of the country’s
development?

Thanks to technology, teachers can customize learning for students. It enables them to improve their instruction
methods and personalize learning, thus increasing their productivity and efficiency as instructors.
What can be proposed so that the Philippines can cope up with the other countries in terms of the use of ICT in education?

Reduce population growth which strains the educational system. As a future educator, I find it more effective to teach fewer kids than a lot of kids
at a time. It is also less stressful.
Promote reproductive health and/or legalize abortion.
Gradually reduce benefits to families after their 2nd child

4. As we can see nowadays many youth has a social media even the children has already gadgets, no wonder if the children will adopt the trends and latest update on social
media but not all trends are supposed to be seen by the childrens in facebook or even in tiktok, government has no actions about that maybe the parents has more enough
power to control their children by telling them to not use social media when there are not 18 above because as we can see when we want a account in facebook and the
facebook will ask How old are you and you are 15 then you can’t use facebook at all but then the childrens knows how to have access on it they will change their age so that
they can have their account.
