The 5 Types Of Life Jacket

LIFE JACKET
a piece of equipment that looks like a jacket without sleeves and that is filled with air or
light material designed to help someone float if the person falls into the water
Type I
Used to protect the wearer in open water bodies, these lifejackets provide safety in rough seas and
are useful in maintaining the body in the optimum position to prevent drowning. These provide a
minimum buoyancy of 10kg. F on Adults & 5.5kg. F on child wearer. This is the best LifeJacket
when the head is intended to keep above the rough waters.
TYPE ll
These are primarily used in inshore area, in water bodies where rapid rescue operations can be
implemented. In colder regions they are designed to protect the wearer against hypothermia. These
provide a minimum buoyancy of 7.5 kg.F on Adult wearer.
TYPE lll
These lifejackets are good for protection in inland water near shore, where chance of immediate
rescue is good. These are comfortable to wear and provide a minimum buoyancy of 7.5 kg.F on
Adult wearer.
TYPE lV
A type 4 life jacket, also called a throwable device, is a piece of safety equipment designed to help a
person stay afloat in water. It is typically used in situations where a person may be at risk of
drowning, such as if they fall overboard from a boat. Type 4 life jackets are usually made from a
foam material that is buoyant and able to support a person’s head and upper body above water. They
typically have a handle or strap that can be used to grab onto the jacket, making it easier to throw to
a person in need.
TYPE V
Lifejacket manufacturers in India design specialist personal flotation devices for extreme water
sports like kayaking, rafting in the rapids, or on a powerboat or jet-ski, where there is a high risk of
the person being thrown overboard.
