Who was William
Shakespeare?
 He was an English playwright,
poet, and actor.
 He was regarded as the greatest
writer in the English language
and the world’s pre-eminent
dramatist.
 He was often called as “England’s
National poet”, and the “Bard of
Avon.”
Who was William
Shakespeare?
 His extant works, including collaborations,
consist of some 39 plays, 154 sonnets, three long
narrative poems, and a few other verses. His
plays have been translated into every major
living language and are performed more often
than those of any other playwright.
 He was born in Stratford-upon-Avon, England,
and was baptized on April 26, 1564.
 He married Anne Hathaway at the age of 18 with
whom he had three children: Susana Hall, and the
twins Hamnet and Judith Quiney.
 On April 23, 1616, he died at the age of 52.
