Equipment for Computer
Hardware Servicing

JERIC E. CANTILLANA, LPT

Subject Teacher
Learning Targets

Learning Competencies:
• Prepare hand tools and equipment according to
function and task requirement.
Learning Targets

Learning Objectives:
• Identify the hand tools and equipment for
Computer Hardware Servicing;
• categorize tools according to their uses; and
• value the uses and functions of the tools and
equipment.
• Technicians invest on tools.
Introduction • Tools serve as extension to parts of the
body; they complement the physical
abilities of our fingers, hands, arms, etc.
Hand Tools

Any hand-operated device

used in engineering,
manufacturing, metalwork,
woodwork, and computer
hardware servicing.

also known as needle-
nose pliers used for
reaching into small
areas, holding small
wires, and components.

A lightweight hammer-like
tool with a head made of
molded rubber or hard
plastic and a wooden or
fiberglass handle.
c) Ballpeen Hammer

It can be identified by its

two heads – a round one
and the other is a flat
one. Traditionally it is
used in metalworking
but it can also be used to
strike punches and
chisels.
5. Testing and Measuring
Equipment
Multimeter –
• also known as multitester
and Volt-Ohm meter;
• used to test integrity of
computer components,
measure voltage and current,
and test resistance.; and
• its electronic version is called
DMM (Digital Multimeters) or
DVOM (Digital Volt-Ohm
meter).
6. Testing and Measuring
Equipment
LAN Cable Tester – also
called network tester or
sometimes called network
tester; used to check
condition and connectivity
of a particular type of cable
or other wired assemblies.
7. Cleaning Materials and
Other Utilities
a. Cable ties – used to fasten or fix cables neatly.
7. Cleaning Materials and
Other Utilities

b. Compressed air –
used to blow away
dirt from different
parts of the computer
especially the CPU
and heat sink.
