THEATER
 Is a branch of performing arts that often involves the integration and
combination of the visual and performing arts.

 It is defined as a fine arts where actors or actresses perform experiences,


whether real or imagined, in front of a live audience.
Common example of theater arts are
 MIME - is a person who uses mime as a theatrical medium or as a
performance art. Miming involves acting out a story through body
motions, without the use of speech
 PUPPETRY - is a form of theatre or performance that involves the
manipulation of puppets – inanimate objects, often resembling some type
of human or animal figure that are animated or manipulated by a human
called a puppeteer.

 TRAGEDY - branch of drama that treats in a serious and dignified


style the sorrowful or terrible events encountered or caused by a
heroic individual.
 OPERA - Opera is a form of theatre in which music has a leading
role and the parts are taken by singers, but is separate from musical
theater.

 MUSICAL THEATER - is a form of theatrical performance that


combines songs, spoken dialogue, acting and dance.

 TRADITIONAL THEATER - Is the leading exponent of


Philippine theater and the resident drama company of the Cultural
Center of the Philippines since its organization in 1987
Why do Artists create art?
Recognition – artist create art in hopes of gaining fame and fortune. Some are
means of livelihood.

Worship – Not all artist create for personal recognition; some do it to glorify their
creator.

Impulse – Some artist create art because they are driven by impulse. It is their
passion, and nothing makes them happier than doing their chosen art. These artists
consider art as life and spend their time doing nothing but such.

Self-expression – Artist, without doubt, create art for self-expression. They express
ideas and emotions that might not be adequately conveyed through words
Why Study art?
 Creating art can help you express yourself, enabling you to share your
ideas and emotions with others.

 Studying art teaches you to distinguish and understand the individual


differences we all have that in part make us unique.

 It makes us more sensitive to others. Studying and creating art help


develop our decision and problem-solving skills.

 Studying and creating art help us realize that there are many ways of
dealing and solving obstacles.
