matter for many, to some, it is a hobby, to others
it is a chore.
 SKIMMING
• Skimming is a strategy in which you look into
the overview of the text to identify the main
idea of the text.
• Skimming can be helpful when you need to
understand certain texts fast.

of a text without having to read through all of
it.
 SCANNING
• Scanning is used to look into specific
information that the reader will need.
• Scanning is useful when you are not looking to
read much but still need certain info.
• You can use scanning to not spend too much
time reading.
 EXTENSIVE READING
• Extensive reading is reading for pleasure to
gain a deeper understanding of the text.
• Extensive reading is useful for those who take
a liking to reading.
• Extensive reading is not for those who don’t
wish to spend too much time reading
 INTENSIVE READING
• Intensive reading is often used for readers to
understand specific concepts and information.
• Intensive reading can be useful when you are
having a hard time understanding something
specific.
• Intensive reading is not for people who don’t
like reading.
 SPEED READING
• Speed reading is often a combination of
reading strategies that aims to get as much
information as possible in a given time.
• This is useful for those in a rush.
