ABSRTACT:

 In our project we make a prototype of MERR ( Mars Exploration &

Research Rover ). The rover is navigated automatically and has a
four wheel driving system using DC electric motors. It has also a
sensors like Radiation sensor, temperature sensor and distance
measuring sensor. A mobile rover can collect small amount of
rock and soil.samples from different areas of the exploring planet
for further analysis.
OBJECTIVE :
 The aim of this project is to make a prototype of exploration & research
rover.

 It uses the distance and radiation calculate through the sensor and
exploring planet surface and uses the temperature and pressure sensor
to find the temperature and pressure of the atmosphere.

 An LCD module is used to display the temperature and other reading

regarding to the working of the Rover.
SENSOR WE USING:

ULTRASONIC SENSOR BMP 180 SENSOR

LITERATURE REVIEW:

TITTLE : The athena Mars rover science payload (2003)

AUTHOR : SW Squyes,R Arvidson
CONCEPT : The rover job will be to explore a site in Mars
ancient terrain, searching for
materials likely to preserve a record of ancient martian water, climate, and possibly
 biology.

 TITTLE: The surface of mars (2007)
 AUTHOR : Michael H carr
 CONCEPT : It describes the diverse Martian surface features and summarizes
current ideas
 as yo how, when, and under what conditions they formed, and explores how Earth
 TITTLE: The Rocky 7 Mars rover prototype.(1996)
AUTHOR : R. Volpe; J. Balaram; T. Ohm; R. Ivlev
CONCEPT : This paper provides a system overview of a new Mars rover prototype, Rocky 7.
We describe all system aspects: mechanical and electrical design, computer and software
infrastructure, algorithms for navigation and manipulation, science data acquisition, and
outdoor rover testing.
 TITTLE : Mangalyaan - Overview and Technical Architecture of India's First Interplanetary
Mission to Mars(2013)
AUTHOR : Venkatesan Sundararajan
CONCEPT : The Mars Orbiter mission was initiated by the Indian Space Research Organization
(ISRO) to study the upper atmosphere of the most Earth like planet in the Solar System.
ADVANTAGES:

 The rover move on it's own.(Through ultrasonic wave).

 Easy to build the rover.
 Easily operate in the uneven surface.
 Compare to stationary landers they
examine more territory.
DISADVANTAGES:

• If it's failed in the field unable to recover the

rover.
• Rover move slowly in the field.
• Higher chance of failure, due landing and
other risks.
CONCLUSION:

In conclusion, the design and development of a mini

rover using Arduino have been successfully achieved
through the implementation.
