❖ A short story is a piece of prose fiction that typically can be read
in one sitting and focuses on a self-contained incident or series of
linked incidents, with the intent of evoking a "single effect" or mood.
It is crafted from its own right.
❖ Realistic fiction is a story that tells about characters and events
that are similar to people and animals in real life. It can be a short
story, novel, fairy tale and fable.
❖ Non-fiction refers to factual stories that are based on real people
and true events. It can be a news, speech, history, biography and
essay.
