The word entrepreur originated from the French


word entreprende which means to undertake.
The word also means a person who starts or
undertake a business and is willing to risk loss
in order to make money.

Sergey Brin
Sergey Mikhaylovich Brin is a Russian-born American
computer scientist and internet entrepreneur. Together with
Larry Page, he co-founded Google. Brin is the President of
Google's parent-company Alphabet Inc. Brin earned his
bachelor's degree in Mathematics and Computer Science at the
University of Maryland, College Park. After graduation, he
enrolled in Stanford University to acquire a PhD in Computer
Science. There, he met Page, with whom he later became
friends. They crammed their dormitory room with inexpensive
computers and built a web search engine. It became popular at
Stanford where they started up Google in a rented garage .
In 2002, Brin, along with Larry Page, was named as one of the
top 100 innovators in the world under the age of 35. In 2003,
they received an honorary MBA from IE Business School "for
embodying the entrepreneurial spirit and lending momentum
to the creation of new businesses. They were also recipients of
the Entrepreneur of the Year award. In 2004, they received the
Marconi Foundation Prize, the highest award in engineering.
As of June 2018, Brin is the 10th richest person in the world,
with an estimated net worth US$52.1 billion.
Chad Hurley
Chad Hurley is the co-founder and former Chief Executive
Officer (CEO) of YouTube which they sold to Google Inc. in
2006. Hurley stepped down as CEO of YouTube in October
2010 but stayed on as an advisor of YouTube. In August 2013,
Hurley launched another company called MixBit, which does
video editing using smartphones. Hurley has made several
investments. He is a part-owner of the NBA's Golden State
Warriors and the MLS' Los Angeles Football Club. Today, Chad
Hurley is a billionaire. But behind this wealth there lies
something extremely priceless – a will to succeed and a will to
create something unique and different.
Larry Page
Lawrence Edward Page, better known as Larry Page, is American
computer scientist and internet entrepreneur who founded Google with
Sergey Brin. Page was the chief executive officer (CEO) of Google's
parent companu Padel Inc. He stepped down as Google CEO in August
2001, but re-assumed the position in April 2011. Page became attracted
to computers when he was six years old. He became the “first kid in his
elementary school to turn in an assignment from a word processor”. He
said that, "From a very early age, I realized I wanted to invent things. So
I became really interested in technology and business. I knew I was
going to start a company eventually.” Page holds a Bachelor of Science
in Computer Engineering from the University of Michigan, with honors
and a Master of Science in Computer Science from Stanford University.
As of June 2018, Page was the 9th richest person in the world, with a net
worth of $53.6 billion.
Mark Elliot Zuckerberg
Mark Elliot Zuckerberg is an American technology
entrepreneur and philanthropist best known for co-founding
and .leading Facebook as its chairman and CEO. He attended
Harvard University, where he launched Facebook from his
dormitory room with his roommates on February 4, 2005. The
site expanded rapidly reaching one billion users by 2012. Since
2010, Time magazine has named Zuckerberg among the 100
wealthiest and most influential people in the world as a part of
its Person of the Year Award. In December 2016, he was
ranked 10th on Forbes List of the World's Most Powerful
People. His net worth is estimated to be US$66.4 billion as of
April 19, 2018.
CHARACTERISTICS OF
ENTERPRENUER
Anybody can be an entrepreneur. But what does it take to
be one? According to Quintin Tan, a professor at the Asian
Institute of Management (AIM), entrepreneurs can be
made. These are people who have worked hard and tried to
overcome their deficiencies by learning skills which are
important for them to become entrepreneurs. To become a
successful entrepreneur is quite challenging. You need to
determine your strengths and weaknesses and start
working on these. Here are some characteristics or traits
that you need to develop to become a successful
entrepreneur.
1. Confident - Entrepreneurs believe that they can do something well and they are sure ey
do with their business will be a success. They are assertive, focused and strong
2. Risk-taker - An entrepreneur has to be prepared for the trials and challenges that come
with it. They take everything into consideration and make a calculated and informed
decision.
3. Flexible and adaptable – An entrepreneur must be willing and ready to adopt a change
when needed. They are not afraid to change with the times and seize the opportunitie that
they may come their way.
4. Goal oriented – An entrepreneur will always have a clear idea of what exactly h wants to
achieve and plan on how to achieve these goals.

5. Persistent - According to Og Mandino, an American author who wrote the book The
Greatest Salesman in the World, “Persistence is the key to success." An entrepreneur may
experience failure and defeat, however he/she needs to continue and be patient in what
he/she is doing even though it is difficult to achieve his/her goal.
6.Open to criticism - An entrepreneur is always ready to hear and consider the opinions of
others. However, he or she doesn't waste time hoping for his/her critics to go away but
instead accepts that criticisms are part of the business and takes it as an opportunity to
improve himself or herself.
7.Innovative and creative - Entrepreneurs should realize that change is constant, thus he
or she should be able to use this change to generate something new and come up with
ingenious ideas. He or she is always eager to learn new things and continuously look for
opportunities to improve his or her business.
8. Persuasive - A successful entrepreneur is able to get others to do what he or she wants.
He or she can influence and motivate people towards his or her goals.
9.Knowledgeable - Entrepreneurs are constantly learning by reading books and
magazines, going through seminars and various trainings. They can pick up things
quickly and are always interested in learning new things.
10.Passionate about their job - Entrepreneurs do not consider their job a job. They
genuinely love what they do and they are willing to put in extra effort and long hours to
make their business grow.
11.Committed - Entrepreneurs do not give up easily. If they don't succeed the first time,
they will continue to try and try again until they succeed. Failure is, for them, an
opportunity for future success.
12. Full of energy - An entrepreneur should be active and always on the go. He/She
should possess the physical and mental strength that will allow him/her to do things for
the business.
13. Determined - Entrepreneurs should have a strong determination to succeed and
overcome obstacles and hardships. They set goals for their business regardless of the
trials and challenges that may come their way.

These are the traits or characteristics which make a successful entrepreneur.


Entrepreneurs who want to become successful early in life should keep these in mind so
that they can practice and improve themselves for their business to succeed.
