LIVING

HOPE
1 PETER 1:3-7
1 PETER 1:3-7
•3 Praise be to the God and Father of
our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great
mercy he has given us new birth into
a living hope through the
resurrection of Jesus Christ from
the dead,
1 PETER 1:3-7
•4 and into an inheritance that can never
perish, spoil or fade. This inheritance is
kept in heaven for you,  who through

faith are shielded by God’s power until

the coming of the salvation that is ready
to be revealed in the last time.
1 PETER 1:3-7
•6 In all this you greatly rejoice, though
now for a little while you may have
had to suffer grief in all kinds of trials.
1 PETER 1:3-7
• 7 These have come so that the proven
genuineness of your faith—of greater
worth than gold, which perishes even
though refined by fire—may result in
praise, glory and honor when Jesus
Christ is revealed.
HOPE
• ”an eager, confident expectation”.
• (CEV) Praise God, the father of
our Lord Jesus Christ. God is so
good, and by raising Jesus from
death, he has given us new life
and a hope that lives on.
HOPE
• (NLT)  All praise to God, the father
of our Lord Jesus Christ. It is by his
great mercy that we have been born
again, because God raised Jesus
Christ from the dead. Now we live
with great expectation,
HOPE
•The Christian hope is established
on the resurrection of Jesus
Christ and starts when God’s
work of a new life starts in a
person’s life.
HOPE
•The Christian hope is not only
“living” but also “lively.”
•The Christian hope is sure
because of Christ’s resurrection.
HOPE OF NEW LIFE (1:3)
• Romans 6:4 4 We were therefore
buried with him through baptism
into death in order that, just as Christ
was raised from the dead through the
glory of the Father, we too may live a
new life.
HOPE OF NEW LIFE (1:3)
• Col. 2:12-13 12 having been buried
with him in baptism, in which you
were also raised with him through
your faith in the working of God,
who raised him from the dead.
HOPE OF NEW LIFE (1:3)
• 13 when you were dead in your
sins and in the uncircumcision of
your flesh, God made you
alive with Christ. He forgave us
all our sins,
HOPE OF NEW LIFE (1:3)
• Ephesians 1:19-2019 and his incomparably
great power for us who believe. That
power is the same as the mighty
strength  he exerted when he raised
20

Christ from the dead and seated him at his

right hand in the heavenly realms,
HOPE OF ENDURING FAITH (1:6-9)
•  So be truly glad. There is wonderful

joy ahead, even though you must

endure many trials for a little while.
(NLT)
•We can have this joy in the midst of
trials because Jesus overcame death.
HOPE OF ENDURING FAITH (1:6-9)
•These trials will not last long, so rejoice.
•1:7 These trials will show that your faith
is genuine. It is being tested as fire tests
and purifies gold—though your faith is
far more precious than mere gold.
HOPE OF ENDURING FAITH (1:6-9)
•1:8 So when your faith remains strong
through many trials, it will bring you
much praise and glory and honor on the
day when Jesus Christ is revealed to the
whole world.
•We have this hope that faith remains
strong through trials.
HOPE OF ENDURING FAITH (1:6-9)
•When Christ is revealed, we are confident
that we will be rewarded and will bring
the highest glory to the One who enabled
us to overcome our trials and temptations.
HOPE OF ENDURING FAITH (1:6-9)
•2 Corinthians 4:16-17 16 Therefore we do
not lose heart. Though outwardly we are
wasting away, yet inwardly we are being
renewed day by day. 17 for our light and
momentary troubles are achieving for us an
eternal glory that far outweighs them all.
HOPE OF ETERNAL INHERITANCE
(1:4-5)
•1:4 4 and into an inheritance that can never
perish, spoil or fade. This inheritance is
kept in heaven for you, 5 who through
faith are shielded by God’s power until
the coming of the salvation that is ready to
be revealed in the last time.
