How was gravity discovered?

The legend is that Newton discovered Gravity when

he saw a falling apple while thinking about the forces
of nature. Whatever really happened, Newton realized
that some force must be acting on falling objects like
apples because otherwise they would not start moving
from rest.
What is gravitational
force?
GRAVITATIONAL FORCE

It is the force of attraction

between all masses in the
universe especially the attraction
of Earth’s mass for bodies near its
surface.
Each member of the group (channel) will perform a short activity about
gravitational force using pair of objects such as pencil and pen, scissors
and a 5-peso coin, crumpled paper and eraser. Drop each pair at exactly
the same time and observe as they hit the floor.
Record the result and post your
answers in your respective

e of channels.

1. Which object consistently fall first in the first pair?
second pair? third pair?
2. How is the mass / weight of an object related to the
gravitational force of attraction?
What happens to your mass and weight when you are on
Earth or far from the Earth?

Mass stays the same wherever you are.

The farther you are from the Earth, the lesser

your weight.
Would air and mass affect falling objects?

An object with greater mass falls at a greater speed while

the object with the lesser mass falls with the lesser speed.

Air resistance acts against the motion of the object more

than it does against another object.
What would happen to falling objects if the air is removed
so that air resistance disappears?

EART MOON
H
What would happen to falling objects if the air is removed
so that air resistance disappears?

When the effects of air resistance are removed, objects with

different weights fall at the same speed.

In Earth, air resistance acts against the object will less weight
which slows down the falling.
In moon, both objects fall at the same speed because there is no air
resistance acting on the falling objects.
How is gravitational force affected by the distance of the
body/object?

The more distant the body from the Earth, the lesser the
gravitational attraction is.
When objects are closer together, the gravitational force
is greater, but as the distance increases, the gravitational
force decreases.
How does gravitational force
affect/ relate to your life?

Ponder on this!
Is force and motion necessary
in our daily activities and in
the environment? Why?
How can you keep your faith
in God be as strong as the
strength of gravity?

gravity to your friends and
family even in trying times?
