WHAT IS ETHICAL PERSPECTIVE?

• Ethical perspective is the way people look at life,

situations or their positions on it, is what they believe is
right. With the ethical perspective, one identifies and
differentiates the proper concepts of good and bad, helps
to define problems by systematically thinking, allows to
see the realities from different points of view, in order to
be able to take decisions.
MAIN ETHICAL PERSPECTIVES CAN BE CLASSIFIED
ACCORDING TO THE ANSWERS TO QUESTIONS OF LIFE
1. Ethical perspective of obligation (Deontology)

 Its name comes from the Greek word “deon”, meaning “duty”. Actions that align with
these rules are ethical, while actions that don’t aren’t. This ethical theory is most closely
associated with German philosopher, Immanuel Kant.
The ethical perspective of obligation is about being, based on a predetermined set of
rules of what is right and wrong.
Under this perspective individuals must be faithful to the norms of what believe to be
right, it imposes itself on the need to be consistent with personal values.
Any system involving a clear set of rules is a form of deontology, which is why some
people call it a “rule-based ethic”.

2. The Ethical Perspective of Character or Ethics of Virtue

The ethical perspective of virtue is present in the ancient Greek philosophy in the works of
Plato Y Aristotle.
 It defines good actions as ones that display embody virtuous character traits, like courage,
loyalty, or wisdom. A virtue itself is a disposition to act, think and feel in certain ways.
Virtue ethics suggests treating our character as a lifelong project, one that has the capacity to
truly change who we are. The goal is not to form virtues that mean we act ethically without
thinking, but to form virtues that help us see the world clearly and make better judgments as
a result.
3. The ethical perspective of results or utilitarianism

 Utilitarianism is an ethical theory that determines right from wrong by focusing on

outcomes.

 Utilitarianism holds that the most ethical choice is the one that will produce the greatest
good for the greatest number.

 it is established that human well-being should be maximized, ethically correct choice is the
one that produces the most happiness and less unhappiness for the greater number of people.
Importance of Ethical Perspective

The importance of ethical perspective lies in its ability to give a new direction to present-day
problems. The ethical perspective helps people develop a sense of responsibility, empathy,
and compassion toward others. Ethical Perspectives are very important, since they come to
be classified as a discipline of life, and should always be sought to apply in all areas of life
because they are related to the principles of morality, truth, utility, and justice.
