Introduction to orthodontics
INTRODUCTION

• Orthodontics is that branch of dentistry concerned


with prevention, interception and correction of
malocclusion and other abnormalities of the dento-
facial region. The word ‘ORTHODONTICS’ is
derived from Greek words ‘ORTHOS’ meaning
correct and ‘DONTOS’ meaning teeth.

malocclusion.

• Surgical approach
