Look at the sentences below:

The two sets of sentences contain causes and effects. It is easier to identify
which sentence expresses the cause or effect if one uses proper transition
words.
Here are some common transition words that introduce causes
and effects:

You may choose to use a transition word to introduce the
cause and effect when you connect the two sentences.
You may choose to use a transition word to introduce the

Other times, these transition words can also be used to
introduce the problem and solution in a sentence or paragraph.
Transition words that introduce the cause are often also used
to introduce a problem while transition words for effect also
introduce the result.

Identifying the problem and solution is important in understanding the


process and sequence of events in text.

For example:

The events in a story happen because of causation


Take a look at the organizer below depicting the causation of events in
the myth of Icarus:
Daedalus created two pairs of wings for himself and Icarus in
order to escape from the prison in Crete.

Daedalus warned Icarus not to fly too closely to the sun.

Icarus disobeyed his father and flew high above, close to the
