Chapter 2:

Time
management
Chapter at a glance

• What is time management?

• Time vs money
• Self-assessment – time management
• Students’ experience of their own time
management skills
• Saving time / wasting time
• Successful time management
• Conclusion
Are you a time waster or procrastinator?

• Ignore the assignment, maybe it will go away.

• Watch TV (or do something else enjoyable) for five
minutes and then get back to homework.
• Underestimate the amount of work or time an
assignment will take.
• Do something else “very important” to avoid working
on an assignment.
• Do only part of an assignment, the part you are good
at, and not do the difficult part.
• Spend so much time deciding what to do, that you do
not get anything done.
