Grading and Reporting

▪ Assessment of learning during instruction and

after instruction may be achieved in a number
of ways. One of the challenges in grading is
that of summarizing the variety of collected
information from different types of assessment
and come up with a standardized numerical
grade or descriptive letter rating or brief report.

The guiding premises in developing
grading and reporting system
▪ The primary goal of grading and reporting is communication.
▪ Grading and reporting are integral parts of the instructional
process.
▪ Good reporting is based on good evidence

▪ Changes in grading and reporting are best accomplished through

the development of a comprehensive reporting system.

Step 3. Convert the Written Works for MAPEH (PE) is 30%

Percentage Score to Weighted Score (WS) = 94.15 x 0.20 = 18.83
Weighted Score by The Weighted Score of Written Works is 28.24
multiplying the Percentage
Score by the Weight of the Performance Task for MAPEH (PE) is 60%
Component (WS= PS x WC) Weighted Score (WS) = 90.83 x 0.60 = 54.50
(pls. see Table 4, page 10 of The Weighted Score of Written Works is 54.50
DO 8, s. 2015)
Quarterly Assessment for MAPEH (PE) is 20%
Weighted Score (WS) = 93.33 x 0.20 = 18.67
The Weighted Score of Written Works is 18.67

STEPS EXAMPLE

Step 4. Add the Component Weighted Score

Weighted Scores of each Written Works = 18.83
Component. The result is
the Initial Grade. Performance Task = 54.50

Quarterly Assessment = 18.67

TOTAL 92.00

The Initial Grade is 92.00

Step 5. Get the

equivalent Final Grade The Initial Grade is 92.66
using the given
transmutation table (see The Transmuted Grade is 95.
Appendix B of DO 8, s.
2015) So the Quarterly Grade of Learner A in
Mathematics for this quarter is 95.

This is the grade that should be reflected

Using the sample class record, Learner A received an initial grade of

92.00 in PE for the 1st Quarter, which is equivalent to 95 when
transmuted and is escribed as Outstanding. Learner B obtained a
Transmuted Grade of 73, which means that the learner Did Not Meet
Expectations in the First Quarter in Math. Learner B received a
Transmuted Grade of 87 which is described as Very Satisfactory.
