AREA OF A CIRCLE
Learning Objectives:
Given the materials and activities, the
grade 5 pupils will be able to do the following
with at least 75% level of accuracy;

a. discuss the formula in finding the area of a

circle;
b. find the area of the circle; and
c. solve routine and non-routine problems
involving the area of a circle.
What is Area of a circle?
Area of a circle is given by the area of a
circle formula which is made by using a
specific relationship between the radius of a
circle and its area.
A= Πr²
Formula in getting the area of a circle.

Where the value of Π = 3.14

Radius
• is a straight line from the
center to the circumference
of a circle or sphere.

Example
In getting the area of a circle, example
the radius is 3cm.
All we need to do is to substitute the value.

A= πr²
= π (3cm)²
= π (9cm²)
= 3.14 (9cm²)
= 28.26cm² roud off
= 28.3cm²
Diameter is a straight line passing from
side to side through the center of a body or
figure, especially a circle or sphere.
Example #2

The diameter of a tambourine is 10 inches. Find the area

of its surface?

A= πr²
= π (5in)²
= π (25in²)
= 3.14 (25in²)
= 78.5in²
