(Bell Rings) tringgggggggggggggg

Scene opens with students welcoming the teacher in the class. All Students: Good morning Teacher Teacher: Good Morning Students, So how are you all today? All Students: Fine Aman: Teacher, I have a question? Teacher: Yes, Aman pls tell me what is it? Aman: Yesterday, I went with my parents to see some flats, as we have to buy a new house. A consultant took us and showed some of them, but I heard a same question which my mom & dad asked the consultant frequently & that was What the area of the flat? Jatin: Yes, teacher I also heard this word Area from my dad when he was ordering a carpet for our floor. What is this Area? Teacher: Hmm good question. Well, in simple words Area means: The inside space on which a building stands. For example: the space on which our school building stands. In mathematics it is explained as: Area is a quantity that expresses the extent of a two-dimensional surface or shape in the plane Pratik: How is the Area measured?
Teacher: Area is measured in "square" units.

For example: The area of a figure is the number of squares required to cover it completely, like tiles on a floor.

Aman: Oho ok mom & dad were asking the consultant about the space of the flat; which means area of the flat. Jatin: Teacher, it means that everything has an area. Teacher: Yes, All the shapes be that rectangle, square, circle, triangle, or any closed figure etc has an area. I hope you all know what are closed figures? If the start and end points of a figure are same, then it is called a Closed Figure. Ex. Square etc Pratik: teacher, how to calculate the area of a rectangle? Teacher: The area of a rectangle can be found by multiplying the base times the height. i.e Area of a rectangle=width x height For example: If a rectangle has a base of length 6 inches and a height of 4 inches, its area is 6x4=24 square inches
6 inches 6 inches 6inches height 6 inches(width)

Aman: Teacher, How to calculate area of the Square? Teacher: The area of a square can be found by multiplying the base times itself. This is similar to the area of a rectangle but the base is the same length as the height. i.e Area of a square= a2 (a= length of side)

For Example: If a square has a base of length 6 inches its area is 6*6=36 square inches
6inches

6 inches

6 inches

6 inches

Jatin: What about area of the Triangle? Teacher: The area of a triangle can be found by multiplying the base times the one-half the height. i.e Area of a triangle = 1/2bxh For example: If a triangle has a base of length 6 inches and a height of 4 inches, its area is 6*2=12 square inches

4 inches

4 inches

6inches

Teacher: Now lets talk about the circle, Can anyone tell me what a circle is? Pratik: A circle is a shape with all points the same distance from its center

Teacher: Right. Now tell me what is the diameter? Pratik: The distance across a circle through the center is called the diameter

Teacher: Now tell me what is the radius? Jatin: The radius of a circle is the distance from the center of a circle to any point on the circle.

Teacher: Very good, Now, tell me what is called the circumference of a circle? Aman: The distance around a circle is called its circumference

Pratik: How to find the area of the circle? Teacher: We use the Greek letter (pronounced Pi) to represent the ratio of the circumference of a circle to the diameter. i.e Area of the circle = Where the value of r2

= 3.14, r stands for the radius.

For example: If a circle has a radius of 4, its area is 3.14x4x4=50.24

Teacher: I hope you all are clear about the questions you have in mind on AREA. Inshort, just remember this: Area, area throughtout the whole middle For rectangles, it's base times height And your answer will always be right All Students: Thank You Teacher
