Schneider’s sustainability goals

We are integrating a sustainability mindset across our entire enterprise. Moving goods as efficiently as possible means less carbon
dioxide emitted, and we are strategically investing in areas that allow us to continue to push efficiency in the near- and long-term, such
as electrification and optimization of diesel trucks.

We set four ambitious goals: We have:

Reduce CO2 emissions by 7.5% per mile by 2025. Reduced CO2 emissions per mile by 5%.

Begun deploying 92 electric trucks for our intermodal operations in

Southern California in 2023.
Achieve a 60% reduction in CO2 emissions per mile by 2035.
Year over year increased our intermodal capacity and owned
assets.
Double our intermodal business by 2030, thus reducing CO 2
Reduced energy consumption at our facilities by 12.5% by
emissions by an additional 700 million pounds per year.

We are committed to operating one of the most energy efficient fleets
in North America

Schneider has been focused on operating as the most environmentally-friendly

truckload carrier since 1978 — reducing greenhouse gas emissions, improving fuel
efficiency and changing global operational policies to reduce our carbon footprint.

WE ARE PROUD to continue investing in full-time, on-site teams of mechanical

engineers that have been dedicated to equipment performance and efficiency since
1989.

Today we are one of the most energy-efficient fleets on the road.

Supporting environmental responsibility as a business priority
Schneider and our customers are making environmental responsibility a
priority in business decision-making. Schneider is committed to being a
transparent partner across the supply chain and discloses information via “Sustainability solutions in the transportation space can

align our greenhouse gas ambitions under one umbrella
it will allow us to be better at best practice sharing, it will
help us to be better at shared capability building, and
ultimately it helps us advance toward our collective
sustainability targets much faster.”

Our industry leading energy-efficiency investments hit the road everyday
While we look ahead to solutions like electric vehicles, we also recognize that a core component of sustainability is improving what we already have. We have
taken steps to make our existing diesel fleet more efficient. Upgrading our existing fleet is an iterative process and we are constantly innovating, making
improvements including:

8
Schneider now operates one of the largest electric truck fleets in North America
At Schneider, we are committed to the future of fleet electrification,
and we are making necessary short- and long-term investments
including testing electrified powertrains, developing strategic Battery-
Electric Vehicle (BEV) adoption plans, and building relationships with
industry stakeholders.

In 2023, Schneider will add 92 Freightliner eCascadias to our

Southern California Intermodal operations.

Since battery-electric trucks run on all battery power, CO emission

production is zero no matter the distance, making a significant cut

to our carbon footprint.

CHARGING STATIONS

South El Monte charging stations

• Project planning began September 2021.
• 16-unit charging depot with 350 kW chargers.
• Parallel charging, meaning 32 trucks can be charged at one time.
• Required heavy engineering hours to coordinate and optimize charging times.
• Construction complete in May 2023 (expected).
ELECTRIC • We are integrating two Lonestar S22 electric terminal tractors into dock
operations at our Rancho Cucamonga location.
TERMINAL
TRACTORS • Each electric tractor will replace two diesel units and will save an
estimated 35 tons of CO2 per truck each year.
EXTEND OUR
COMMITMENT TO • These new vehicles will primarily support moving equipment, unloading
and loading shipments for local Schneider customers while producing no
ELECTRIFICATION GHG emissions.
Our commitments extend beyond the road
THOUGHT-LEADERSHIP + ADVOCACY DRIVER EDUCATION + TRAINING
Environmental progress is a group effort. As part of our commitment to improving the sustainability of
the logistics industry as a whole, we participate in multiple industry councils. We strive to share our
expertise and learn from others as active stewards of our environment to achieve collective benefits Schneider continues to invest in simulation-based driver training
for our industry and our communities. programs to help drivers understand that they are the primary
managers of truck energy efficiencies.
Schneider is a member of the Electric Freight Consortium (EFC), launched to amplify the benefits
of freight electrification.

Schneider is also a proud participant and gold-level sponsor of the North American Council for
Freight Efficiency (NACFE), an organization dedicated to doubling the industry’s efficiency.

Schneider is a charter member of the EPA SmartWay® program, a voluntary collaboration between
the EPA and the freight industry designed to increase energy efficiency and significantly reduce
greenhouse gases and air pollution.

Schneider is also a part of the American Chemistry Council Responsible Care Management
System®, a voluntary initiative intended to improve the standards of the chemical industry and
prevent dangerous incidents from occurring in the future.

In 2022, Schneider became the first North American transportation carrier to join the Global Logistics
Emissions Council (GLEC) to help the industry improve on setting standards for calculating
emissions and exchanging data across companies to reduce their carbon footprint.

Intermodal is a key part of our sustainability approach

Schneider is a leader in intermodal shipping, giving Year over year, we continue to increase intermodal
customers the flexibility to leverage solutions that help capacity and equipment.
reduce the carbon impact of their shipments.
Schneider saves 700 million pounds of CO2 each year
by working with the railroads.
Moving freight by rail has significant environmental and
efficiency benefits compared to conventional truck
freight – one ton of freight can be shipped 500 miles
by rail on the equivalent of a single gallon of fuel.

Our new agreement with Union Pacific Railroad will

allow us to offer expanded options to customers and
further efficiency.

14
Our investment makes a world of difference for our customers
We are enabling efficiency for our customers.

Schneider is one of the few North American shipping and logistics

companies that develops capabilities and technologies to improve
its own sustainability efforts while also helping customers
understand and reduce their carbon emissions.

Schneider works one-on-one with customers to review network

optimization, reduce empty miles, consolidate freight and pick the
right mode of transportation – whether it’s dedicated, intermodal or
a mix. Schneider offers a calculator tool to help customers run
different scenarios and see the benefits.

Our Schneider FreightPower® platform is a key part of this,

providing a single digital access point to services and solutions,
combining digital analytics and user-friendly design to make it
simple for our customers to pick the most efficient transportation
routes and modes for their needs. Customers can get price quotes,
