VESDA-E VEP-1 vs VLC
Feature VLC-505 VEP-A00-1P Sales Message
Detection IR Laser Detection Flair Detection Combining light scattering and image analysis Flair improves detection performance and
Technology stability and nuisance alarm rejection at the same time with no compromise. Flair is the
only detection technology that can deliver this level of performance and longevity

Fire 1 Threshold 0.015%/m 0.01%/m 1.5 times the sensitivity for earlier warning (and with minimum nuisance alarms because
(0.0046%/ft) (0.003%/ft) of Flair)

Pipe Length 80m (260ft) 100m (328ft) Longer pipe runs allow greater flexibility and convenient detector mounting to reduce
(Linear / Branched) 100m (328ft) 130m (427ft) cost of maintenance

Sampling Holes 30/36/40 30/40/45 Improved detection technology increases the number of sampling points for improved
(A/B/C) coverage

General Purpose 1 2 With an extra GPI there is greater flexibility in control. Both GPIs are programmable (one
Input monitored typically for PSU monitoring) for greater flexibility.

Relays 3 7 More relays allow greater flexibility in reporting multiple alarm fault conditions

Analytics None DieselTrace, Targeted detection for integration with business process for effective response and to
DustTrace, save cost
WireTrace

StaX None PSU Future proof expandability protecting end-user initial investment

Connectivity Serial USB, Ethernet, Wi-Fi World class connectivity for unprecedented ease of monitoring and maintenance

Fully Field Partial Yes Reduced service and maintenance time and cost as key sub-assemblies are
Replaceable interchangeable in the field

AutoLearn Smoke Smoke and Flow In addition to Smoke; VEP learns the flow conditions and sets individual sample pipe flow
thresholds to accommodate varying environmental conditions

Non-volatile No Yes Retention of event log upon loss of power enabling later retrieval of events for expedient
Memory troubleshooting and configuration

VESDA-E VEU vs VEP

Feature VEP VEU Sales Message

Area Coverage VEU can provide considerably larger area coverage as allowed by
2,000m2 6,500m2 system design and regulatory requirements. VEU will considerably
(21,528 sq. ft) (96,640 sq. ft)* reduce the installation cost due fewer detectors, power supplies,
batteries, cabling and labour.

Fire 1 Threshold VEU provides 10 times higher sensitivity than VEP resulting in
0.01%/m 0.001%/m earlier warning in mission critical facilities such as Clean Rooms
(0.003% obs/ft) (0.0003% obs/ft)) preventing smoke damage and ensuring business continuity.

Pipe Length Linear Linear Longer pipe runs allow greater flexibility and increased coverage in
(Linear / 4 x 70m 4 x 100m high ceiling applications whilst allowing convenient detector
Branched) (4 x 230ft) (4 x 328ft) mounting to reduce the cost of maintenance.
Branched Branched
560m 800m
(1,837ft) (2,624ft)

Sampling Holes 40/80/100 80/80/100 VEU provides double the number of Class A sampling holes
(A/B/C) considerably increasing the coverage in high airflow applications.

    area. End users will invest in VEU.

Both VEU and VEP provide more cost effective

coverage in high airflow environments where very high
Datacentre sensitivity and dense detection locations are
     mandated.

The super extended pipe runs of VEU allow efficient

and effective detection in significantly large warehouse
facilities with the detector placed at an accessible
Warehouse       location. VEP with its longer pipe runs suits medium to
large warehouses.

Longer pipe run on both VEP and VEU are ideal for
tunnels applications. Downloading Analytics allows
Tunnels providing additional information like the existence of
       wire smoke.

Better dust rejection provided by VEP and VEU is very

important in this application that is not necessary
clean. Downloading DieselTrace analytics allow
Carpark       integration with HVAC system for better power and
environment management.

Transport includes various applications that will benefit

from all VEU and VEP features. Better dust rejection
helps in maintenance depots; longer pipe runs help in
Transport        various applications including passenger terminals;
analytics help protecting elevators and escalators.
