WHAT IS HOLOGRAPHIC
IMAGING?
Holograms are defined as a photographic technique that produces a
three-dimensional image which is formed by the intervention of
light beams made by a laser. They reflect the structure and looks of
real physical objects. Very recently, scientists found a way to allow
us to touch and feel holographic images.
WAYS HOLOGRAMS ARE
BEING USED
- Medical: Holography has the potential to revolutionise the medicine
industry by using it as a tool for visualising patient data while training
students and surgeons.

- Storing information: We generate more and more data every year, and
holograms have not only the ability to look like an object, but to store
massive amounts of data within it.

- Holograms are complex optical devices and difficult to make, which

gives them an incredible advantage in the commercial security market.

- Artists became involved with holography almost as soon as it became

a practical optical process.
HOW DO HOLOGRAMS
WORK?
Holography is a method of photography that
involves 3D objects being recorded using a
laser and then displaying the object with the
laser as accurately as possible.

RICHARD There are 2 light waves made by the laser that

ROE have to be coordinated in order to produce the
hologram. These waves are the object beam
and reference beam. The reference beam is
used to read and write holograms, and the
object beam is the wave of light that
illuminates the object to be recorded.
HOW WILL THIS
TECHNOLOGY BE USED IN
THE FUTURE?
Holography has the potential to substantially improve
design and visualization in many corporations and
production facilities. The ability to look at, zoom in on, and
alter 3D copies of product ideas accelerates the design
process greatly. Another way holography will help us in the
future is through military mapping. High quality 3D maps
of the enemies base can allow the army to plan strategies
for wars.
