NATIONAL LIVING TREASURES (GAWAD SA


MANLILIKHA NG BAYAN)
The Philippine government enacted Republic
1992 Act 7355.
• This institutionalized the National Living Treasures Award or the Gawad sa
Manlilikha ng Bayan.
 The NCCA “conducts the search for the finest traditional artists of the land, adopts a
program that will ensure the transfer of their skills to others, and undertakes
measures to promote a genuine appreciation of and instill pride among our people
about the genius of the Manlilikha ng Bayan.”

Tavera.
• He has won several National Book Awards from the
Manila Critics Circle and founded the Cebuano
Studies Center, a library and research center

landscaped walks, fountains, and sculptures as
accents is the product of Santos’s clever ideas.

Resort, the Mt. Malarayat Golf and Country Club
in Lipa, Batangas, and Orchard Golf and Country
Club in Imus, Cavite.

• Romero’s presence in Philippine cinema is one that is

love letter to his country, as it tried to portray the
common Filipino in the backdrop of history and

artist?
Artist who hasn’t distinguished themselves by pioneering in a mode of creative
expression or style.

A living artist who are natural-born Filipino citizen for the last ten years at the time of nomination, and
those who died after the establishment of the award in 1972 but were Filipino citizens at the time of
their death.

Those who have lost and reacquired Filipino citizenship for at least the minimum period of
fifteen years.
