WHAT IS FOOD?
• Nutritious substance that people or animals
eat or drink, or absorbed by the plants, in
order to maintain life and growth.
Ingredients

• These substances that are required to prepare


a particular type of dish are called ingredients.
Variety of food
• In India there is a large variety of food. Each state
has its own signature dish.
• How about writing down the signature dish of your
native state along with the ingredients and its
recipe with the help of your parents (Activity 2) .
• Lets cook it

REASONS FOR VARIETY OF FOOD
• Geographical Locations
• climatic condition
• method of cooking
• spices used and
• types of crops grown etc.
