BIODIVERSITY CONSERVATION
OBJECTIVES:
To preserve the diversity of species.
Sustainable utilization of species and ecosystem.
To maintain life supporting system and essential
ecological processes
POINTS TO UNDERSTAND THE NEED
TO CONSERVE BIODIVERSITY
1. Biodiversity is an essential tool against climate change
Healthy ecosystem mitigate climate change.
2. Biodiversity ensures food security
Humans depend on biodiversity to eat.
3. Biodiversity fights disease
As biodiversity declines, humans face greater risk of zoonotic disease and lose
potential cures for health problems across the spectrum.
4. Biodiversity supports communities
People and communities across the globe depend on biodiversity to maintain their
livelihoods.
5. Biodiversity is already suffering from human actions
Every animal and plant has a unique, essential role in nature.
