KIDNEY STONES
• A small, hard deposit that forms in the
kidneys and is often painful. This
deposit is called kidney stone.

• Kidney stones are hard deposits of

minerals and acid salts that stick
together in concentrated urine. They
can be painful when passing through
the urinary tract, but usually don't
cause permanent damage.

• The most common crystalline

materials found in kidney stones are
calcium oxalate, calcium phosphate,
uric acid, and struvite.
URINARY TRACT INFECTION(UTI)
• An infection in any part of the urinary system, the kidneys,
bladder or urethra is called urinary tract infection (UTI).

• Urinary tract infections are more common in women. They

usually occur in the bladder or urethra, but more serious
infections involve the kidney.

• A bladder infection may cause pelvic pain, increased urge

to urinate, pain with urination and blood in the urine. A
kidney infection may cause back pain, nausea, vomiting
and fever.

• Common treatment is with antibiotics.

KIDNEY DAMAGE

• A condition in which the kidneys lose the ability to

remove waste and balance fluids is called kidney
damage.

• Kidneys can become damaged from a
physical injury or a disease like diabetes, high blood
pressure, or other disorders.

• Dialysis is a procedure to remove waste products and

excess fluid from the blood when the kidneys stop
working properly. It often involves diverting blood to a
machine to be cleaned.
