The project outcome would be an interactive dashboard that provides users with insights and
visualizations related to crimes in Boston. The dashboard would include:
• Interactive visualizations showcasing crime trends, distributions, and rates.
• Summary statistics and relevant filters to enable user exploration.
• The ability for users to interact with the dashboard, filter data, and explore specific areas of interest.
• Comprehensive documentation detailing the data analysis process, including data cleaning, modeling,
and visualization techniques used.
• A comprehensive report summarizing the findings, insights, and recommendations derived from the
data analysis.
• Clear and concise documentation for the code, algorithms, and methodologies implemented.
• The dashboard would serve as a tool for stakeholders and users to understand and analyze crime data

appropriateness.

Data Description: The "Crimes in Boston"
dataset available on Kaggle provides
information about reported crimes in the
city of Boston from years 2015 to 2018.

3. Data Cleansing:
Performing data cleaning and preprocessing tasks to ensure data quality. Handling missing values,
duplicates, and inconsistencies in the dataset are covered in this phase of the project.
Below are the data cleansing steps that are performed on the data:
1. Duplicates: Removed duplicate rows. We have used MS Excel data tab to remove duplicate values. 23
rows have been identified duplicate and are removed.
The number of rows left after removing duplicates are: 319050
2. Missing Values: Missing values in SHOOTING column have been filled. Apart from that there are no
discrepancies in the data.
3. Data Consistency: The data is consistent and does not have any unidentified issues.
