Based on the discussion, what definitions do you have about ‘theme’?.
(A proper definition is provided.)

Note that the theme was not openly (explicitly) stated but you were able to identify it
based on evidence from the text using 3 important steps. What is the story about; what
is the meaning behind the story; what is the lesson?
CLASS ACTIVITY 1
• Define a theme and explore examples of themes in the following paragraphs of text.
• Group task Students work in pairs to discuss and complete the theme graphic
organizer.

• Discover themes in prose by working out the evidences in the paragraphs using
the idea of the theme graphic organizer.

• Class Activity: Present your findings for class discussion. (Guided discussion)
