Uber Technologies Inc. is a largest global taxi technology company which
operates Uber App. Uber is essentially an On-Demanding taxi hailing services
which people with smartphones use to book a trip by third-party private owned
vehicle. 

Uber organizational structure has been traditionally highly hierarchical with co-founder
and former CEO Travis Kalanick yielding tremendous power and micromanaging the
ride-hailing giant. Kalanick had to resign as a result of these scandals.  After Dara
Khosrowshahi became new CEO in 2017, Uber organizational structure has been
subjected to certain changes. Mr. Khosrowshahi is attempting to fix Uber organizational
culture as part of his grand plans to turnaround the business. Accordingly, improvement
in organizational culture may necessitate changes in organizational structure.
Specifically, de-layering of organizational structure may be introduced, removing certain
levels of management in order to make the business more flexible to respond to the
changes in external marketplace. organizational structure may be introduced, removing

structure include faster speed of communication between the top management and floor-
level employees.

Organisational structure of the company is multi-divisional


structure whereby every project undertaken by the company is
managed by different groups having their own management
team for each project such that within multi-divisional structure
there is sub-hierarchical organisational structure for each
project. Existence of teamwork among the members and as well
as in some situation there exist democratic form of decision
making. Top management level makes strategic decisions for
welfare of the business and lower level implements the decisions
made. The company have got combined Non-executive and
Executive directors, the board is composed of 14 directors
including 7 independent directors.

Apple Inc. has a hierarchical organizational structure, with notable divisional


characteristics and a weak functional matrix. The hierarchy is a traditional structural
feature in business organizations. The company now has more collaboration among
different parts of the organization, such as software teams and hardware teams.
Apple’s vice presidents have more autonomy, which was limited and minimal under
Jobs. Thus, the company’s organizational structure is now less rigid, but still has a
spoke-and-wheel hierarchy where Tim Cook is at the center. The upper tier (innermost
tier in the spoke-and-wheel circle) of the corporate structure has function-based
grouping, which is an element derived from the functional type of organizational
structure. Senior vice presidents who report to Tim Cook handle business functions.
Apple’s organizational structure does not support rapid changes because everything
must go through Tim Cook and the top management. For example, Apple has a senior
vice president for retail, and a senior vice president for worldwide marketing. In this
structural feature, the company’s top leaders address business needs in terms of
business function areas
