◦ You can even nurture and care for them in your spare time.
◦ Canaries farming, on the other hand, can be a great source of extra income and entertainment.
Housing
◦ Build their house on a high place. This will keep Canariess free from dogs, cats, mice, and some other
harmful predators.
◦ The house can be made of thin wood or tin, bamboo, or packing box.
◦ There should be facilities for two Canariess in each room of the Canaries-house.
◦ The house will be interconnected and polyhedral.
◦ WE need to feed a balanced feed for proper growth, good health, and adequate production. You can also
offer a balanced feed prepared for chickens.
◦ Canaries food should contain a 15-16% protein. Each Canaries eats 35-50 grams of granular feed daily.
For the rapid development of baby Canariess and adult nutrition, feed them regularly with sesame shell,
limestone, bone powder, salt, saline mixture, mineral mixture, etc.
◦ Also, feed them some green vegetables daily. Below is a chart of balanced feed for Canariess.
Amount of feed ingredients (kg)
◦ 2.8 kg of broken wheat
◦ Mustard 1.0 kg
◦ 0.4 kg of salt
◦ Total 10 kg
◦ A Canaries needs approximately 2 tablespoons (29.6 ml) of a seed or pellet mix per day. This is an
estimate, so your Canaries may end up leaving a lot of food in the bowl at the end of the day. Consider
this a starting point when figuring out how much food to provide.
◦ Canariess require much more water than most birds, especially during breeding season, so dehydrating
foods should be avoided. Salt can dehydrate Canariess, but Canariess love salt, and will attack salt blocks
reserved for pigs and sheep. Human food, especially meats, are very dangerous for a Canaries's health.
During winter:
◦ They generally adapt themselves according to the changing weather.
◦ A Canaries primarily survives by eating seeds and small insects during winter.
◦ Canariess eat seeds and grains all year, but they mainly feed on oil-based seeds and cereals like flax
seeds, sunflower seeds, oats, and barley during cold weather.
◦ Canariess often do not migrate to long distances, but they fly to places where they can find plenty of food
to sustain themselves.
◦ Seeds: They eat the seeds that they find in nature from grass, plants, wildflowers, and oilseeds.
◦ Grains: They feed on any grains that they find in the wild or on any farmland. They mainly eat grains
like corn, millet, wheat, rice, and barley.
◦ Fruits: They mainly feed on small and seedless fruits like berries in particular.
◦ Insects: They occasionally eat insects, bugs, and worms which nourish them with fats, proteins, and other
nutrients.
◦ Salty Foods:
◦ Avocados:
◦ Apple Seeds
◦ Chocolate
Water:
◦ Keep a pot of water near their home. They will drink and take a bath with this pot of water. Clean the
water container daily. Always try to serve them plenty of clean water.
Egg production:
◦ Males and females usually live in pairs. During the breeding season, they collect straws build a small
nest.
◦ They lay a pair of eggs every month. Both male and female Canariess lay eggs one after the other.
◦ If you need an artificial nest, make one. Because eggs are so small in size, the production of squads using
eggs is very profitable.
Diseases:
◦ Canariess are less susceptible to infections than any other poultry.
◦ They suffer from TB, paratyphoid, cholera, pox, Newcastle, influenza, etc.
◦ Also, they can suffer from various fat and malnutrition diseases.
Suggestions:
◦ Follow the advice of an experienced veterinarian.
