What is Job Description in Front Office?

JOB DESCRIPTION is an organized factual statement of job


contents in the form of duties and responsibilities of a specific
job. The preparation of job description is very important before a
vacancy is advertised. It tells in brief the nature and type of
job. Job descriptions are also known as job specifications, job
profiles, JDs, and position descriptions (job PD).

Why Job Description is needed in Front Office Field?

It helps the supervisors in assigning work to the subordinates so


that he can guide and monitor their performances.
It helps in recruitment and selection procedures.
It assists in manpower planning.
It is also helpful in performance appraisal.
It is helpful in job evaluation in order to decide about rate of
remuneration for a specific job.
It also helps in chalking out training and development
programmes.

FRONT OFFICE EMPLOYEES
Front Office Manager (FOM):
Directly supervises all front office personnel and ensures proper
completion of all front office duties. Directs and coordinates the
activities of the front desk, reservations, guest services and
telephone areas. Also prepares monthly reports and budget for
the front office department.

Duties and Responsibilities of Front Office Manager:


• Trains, cross-trains and retrains all front office personnel.
• Schedules the work of Front Office staffs.
• Maintains working relationships and communicates with other
departments of the hotel.
• Supervises work load during shifts.
• Evaluates the job performance of each Front Office employees.
