• Dec 1973:- prepared draft of fresh water fisheries research center
• Nov 1974:- Decided the proposed site at Sebeta
• Feb 1975:- Introduced Grass and Silver Carps from Japan
• Apr 1976:- Completed 15 experimental fish ponds by JOCV contribution
• Jul 1976:- Completed a laboratory building by JOCV contribution
• Aug 1976:- Received colored fish resent from Japan

• Sep1976:- Introduced Tilapia zillii from Kenya


• Oct 1976:- Started farming of important domestic species
The establishment
• site area of the center was about 2ha.
• The building include
• concrete block building, 110 msq
• One study room, one office room, one store room, one fish food store room and one
fish food preparation room
• Fifteen 2020 msq ponds (55msq ---6, 90 msq—1, 100 msq ---3, 200 msq—4 and 500
msq---- 1 ponds)
• The water source is a spring water (WT 22 oc pH 7.3 and 8.2 L/sec
• Fish food granulator
