 Game, Sports & Culture

 Objective : Bishnupur District, Manipur- “Power House of the sports”

 Promote Indigenous Games & Sports : Mukna, Yubi-lakpi, Kangjei,
Shagol-Kangjei, Huyen-Lalong, Thang-Ta, Hiyang-Tanaba, etc.
 “Leikai Ama, Lampak Ama, Pukhri Ama”- “One Locality, One Ground,
One Pond”
 “Cheiraoba- Manipuri New Year”- Hiking/trekking/climbing the hill lock
 “Kalen Lai Haraoba- Summer Festival”- “Lamjen-Mukna: Marathon-
Wrestling” on the closing day.
 “Yaoshang (Holi) Festival”- Yaoshang Sports at every locality for more
healthy Society
 “Khamba-Thoibi”- (Famous historical/folklore) : Lamjen-Mukna,
Kangjei, Kei-Phaba, Kao-Phaba, Yubi-Lakpi, etc.

 Poverty : Most of the Players belong to the BPL/Very Poor Family.

 Low Literacy/ Lack of Education

 Lack of Sport Scientist, nutritionist and Dietitians
 Lack out Coach
 Lack of knowledge about sports related government schemes
by the sport persons.

 Policy, Strategy & Methodology
 “Leikai Ama, Lampak Ama, Pukhri Ama”- “One Locality, One Ground, One
Pond” Policy for rural and urban Bishnupur District, Manipur,

 District Administration Bishnupur provides Support, Motivation & Incubation to

Indigenous games and sports

 District Level Executive Committee (DLEC): District Administration, DYASO,

SAI, NYK, District Level Sports Organisation.

 Training at Grass root level for different sports disciplines,

 Convergence of different departments schemes/programmes to achieve

minimum government maximum governance: NYK, KVK- Sports nutrition related
consultations, DYSO, Skill Development, MCA, CSR, Sports training academy and
CSOs.
Eg. 1 star rated TYDA Football Ground under MGNREGA.

 District Administration Bishnupur’s special Drive : Beti Bachao Beti Padhao
Scheme wherein women are trained in self-defense martial arts.
 KHELO INDIA SCHEME: Construction of sports infrastructure and scholarships
for players through DBT/PFMS.

 Technology Intervention: Affordable Technologies for promoting Game & Sports

and Youth affairs, using Digital Bishnupur- Youtube channel, whats app group, etc.

 Corpus Fund for Sports by District Administration Bishnupur: for being

utilized for organizing district level competitions/ implementation of
project/programme or bridging resource gap in area of sports.
 Inclusive Development Programmes: Transgender Marathon and Football match,
Awareness and motivation for Transgenders and PWDs, etc.
 Multidisciplinary Sports Intervention at various level: Baby Legend League
U-6, U-7, U-8 tournaments for various sports discipline.
 Impacts
 Employment Generation: Sports provides highest percentage of government
job to the people in Bishnupur District, Manipur,
 Livelihood: Sports as a livelihood for the people.
 Solution to the problems of unemployed youths
 Solved the insurgency problem by providing livelihood and employments to
the youths,
 Socio Economic Impact
 Solved the problems of drug abuse and intoxicant in the society.
 More than 2000 national players, 60 sports infrastructures/playfield/water
sports complex (excluding locality playground) and more than 25 sports
discipline.
 School registered under Fit India: 83.78% Fit India Schools (93 out of 111 ).
 Flood Light Play-Ground at all the Assembly Constituencies of the District
under MLA Local Area Development fund.
 Players of Water Sports Complex won 222 medals during 2019 including
National and International level.
 Way Forward
 100% Registration of schools in the district at Fit India,

 Produce more national, international player, Olympians from

the district, Physically Challenged Players.

 More Sports for Transgender & PWD

 To make Bishnupur District, Manipur Power House of Sport.

 To create a Healthy Society by 2025 and DRUG Free Society.

 More Training Programmes at Grass root level for different

sports disciplines
