Assessment task 2

In twos think of one sporting, one social, one cultural and one economic
benefit to Philippines hosting a major sporting event such as South East
Asian Games (SEAGAMES) last 2019.

Answer :
The SEA Games could act as a stepping stone for the Philippines to host other
international sporting events in the future. The country won the bid to host the
ASEAN Para Games in 2020 and is eyeing the 2030 Asian Games.
Media coverage of the SEA Games will provide the country with an international
platform to portray its strength as an attractive tourism destination and capable
tournament host. Its hospitable services segment with considerable proficiency in
English has long been a draw, and officials are eager to build upon this reputation to
ensure the SEA Games not only have a short-term impact on visitor arrivals but also
a long-term impact on the tourism sector.

Assessment task 3

1. What does the Philippines sport do?

Answer :
Sports in the Philippines is an important part of the country's culture. There are six
major sports in the Philippines: basketball, boxing, tennis, football, billiards, and
volleyball. Despite being a tropical nation, ice skating has recently become a popular
sport in the Philippines.[1][2] Sports such as athletics, weightlifting, aerobics, and
martial arts are also popular recreations. On July 27, 2009, President Gloria
Macapagal Arroyo signed Republic Act No. 9850 into law, declaring Arnis as the
Philippine National Martial Art and Sport.

2. What are the national institutes of sport in the Philippines?

Answer :
Philippine Sports Institute (PSI) was first launched in May 1996 as the Philippine
Institute of Sports (PhilSports). Then President Fidel Ramos instructed then
Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) Chairman Philip Ella Juico to form the sports
institute which was inaugurated on November that year. With the help of former
PSC Chairman Perry Mequi, Philsports organized various programs. It was
disestablished in 1998 by Juico's successor. Under the Republic Act 6847 of 1990, the
PSC is mandated to run a sports institute alongside of maintaining a Philippine Sports
Hall of Fame.

The sports institute was briefly revived in 2005 by PSC Chairman William Ramirez
under the administration of then President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo but was made
defunct by Ramirez's successor. When Ramirez was appointed once again to the post
by President Rodrigo Duterte, the organization was revived once again.

The PSI was reestablished two weeks before September 16, 2016. The sports
institute was patterned after the Canberra based Australian Institute of Sport. Marc
Velasco was appointed as the first national training director of the PSI since its
revival.

On January 16, 2017, the PSI was formally launched at the PhilSports Arena.
President Rodrigo Duterte was supposed to lead the ceremony, but did not make it
due to prior commitments. Instead, Cabinet Secretary Leoncio Evasco was sent as
the President's representative in the ceremony.[6] PSC Chairman William Ramirez
led the relaunch with Philippine Olympic Committee President Peping Cojuangco
also in attendance.

3. Why are the institutes necessary?

Answer :
The institution defines its purposes and establishes educational objectives aligned
with those purposes. The institution has a clear and explicit sense of its essential
values and character, its distinctive elements, its place in both the higher education
community and society, and its contribution to the public good. It functions with
integrity, transparency, and autonomy.

4. What do the institutes provide?

Answer :
Educational support, resources and leading research to help those in risk
management and insurance better serve the public.

olympic games world cup competitions.

2. Canadian and the United States. When it comes to government, the municipal
(city) government takes on the role of maintaining order in public areas of society.
Because sports arenas and fields are such a large part of public society, it’s the
government’s duty to ensure that they are managed in such a way that is safe for
citizens.

Assessment task 5
1. What are the National Governing Bodies of sport in the Philippines?

Answer :
The Philippine Athletics Track and Field Association (PATAFA), formerly the Philippine
Amateur Track and Field Association, is the national governing body for athletics
sports such as track and field, road running, cross country running, and race walking
in the Philippines.

2. Choose atleast 2 National Governing Bodies and discuss the initiatives

do they have for both mass participation and sporting excellence?

running, jumping, and throwing.[1] The name is derived from where the sport takes
place, a running track and a grass field for the throwing and some of the jumping
events. Track and field is categorized under the umbrella sport of athletics, which
also includes road running, cross country running, and racewalking.

Assessment task 6

1. What else can be done to help young people achieves sporting

excellence?

Answer :
High quality training

Elite sport apprenticeships continue to make a real difference to Team GB's success.
In addition to helping young athletes prepare for international competitions,
apprenticeships fully equip our youth with the skills they need to survive in a
commercial world, as and when they move to a new career path.

In 2004, SkillsActive, the Skills Sector Council for Active Leisure, Learning and
Wellbeing, joined forces with both National Governing Bodies (NGBs) of sport and
industry experts, to develop a Sports Performance Programme which would support
the likes of Tom Daley and Rebecca Adlington through their training years.

The Advanced Apprenticeship in Sporting Excellence (AASE) was the result of this
partnership; providing a structured training and development route for talented
athletes aged 16-19 with a real chance of excelling in their sport. Fully funded by the
Skills Funding Agency, AASE is now offered to 3,000 athletes annually in more than
25 sports.

Over 30 AASE apprentices, both current and alumni, were selected to represent the
UK in the Games. This was across swimming, diving, water polo, tennis, synchronised
swimming, taekwondo, table tennis and athletics.

"Flexibility has been critical to the success of AASE and the way the programme is
delivered can be adapted to suit the requirements of each individual sport."

2. Should PE in schools change?

Answer :
The words “physical education” have the ability to evoke a variety of thoughts,
memories, and feelings. Thoughts of glorified free-play or the “easy A class.”
Memories of the weekly mile or the football coach teacher. Feelings of anxiety about
having to dress out or of pride as you were the first one picked for kickball.

In an education system of constant change and growth, it is no surprise that physical

education has been evolving along the way. Long gone are the days of synchronized
calisthenics and drills, of a teacher just rolling out a ball, of students being singled
out in large elimination games. Although there still may be faint traces of these old
ways of “learning” in some physical education classes, a more positive shift towards
teaching students to become lifelong movers has been emerging.
