The Atmosphere

Third Grade
What is the Atmosphere?

 Is a thin layer of gases that surrounds the Earth. It seals the planet and
protects us.
Layers of the atmosphere

 1)  Most of Earth’s weather, including the wind and most clouds,

exists in the troposphere.

2) The stratosphere includes the ozone layer. Ozone blocks much of the
sun’s radiation that would harm plants and animals if it reached Earth.
 3) The third layer is the mesosphere.

 The fourth layer, the thermosphere.

 The fifth and highest layer of the atmosphere is the exosphere.
Why the atmosphere is important?

 Earth’s atmosphere is similar to a jacket for our planet.

 It surrounds our planet
 Gives us oxygen to breathe,
 It is where our weather happens.
