Water soluble

Vitamins
Introduction :
Water-soluble vitamins are carried to the body's tissues
but are not stored in the body. They are found in many
plant and animal foods and in dietary supplements and
must be taken in daily. Vitamin C and members of the
vitamin B complex are water-soluble.
Classification of vitamins:
FUNCTIONS OF THIAMINE
(VITAMINE B 1):
Part of an enzyme needed for energy metabolism important to nerve function
Thiamin is involved in several basic cell functions and the breakdown of nutrients for energy.
Thiamin also plays a role in muscle contraction and conduction of nerve signals.
RIBOFLAVIN (VITAMINE
B2):
helps body break down proteins, carbs, and fats to produce energy.
Riboflavin is a key component of coenzymes involved with the growth of cells, energy
production, and the breakdown of fats, steroids, and medications
t is also important for growth and red blood cell production.
Riboflavin specifically aids in immune system and maintains healthy skin and nails.
FUNCTIONS OF NIACIN
( VITMINE B3):
1. Niacin is a B vitamin that's made and used by your body to turn food into energy.
2. It helps keep your nervous system, digestive system and skin healthy.
3. Niacin (vitamin B-3) is often part of a daily multivitamin, but most people get enough niac.
4. Niacin works by lowering both your low-density lipoprotein (LDL) or “bad” cholesterol and other
fatty substances in from the food they eat.
FUNCTIONS OF PANTOTHENIC
ACID(VITAMINE B5):
They play role in the breakdown of fats and carbohydrates for energy,
•healthy skin, hair, and eyes
•proper functioning of the nervous system and
•healthy digestive tract
•making red blood cells, which carry oxygen throughout the body
PYRIDOXINE (VITAMINE
B6):
Vitamin B6 helps the body to Make antibodies
Maintain normal nerve function.
Participate in red blood cell production and help boost immunity.
They support healthy immune system function.
FUNCTIONS OF BIOTIN
(VITAMINE B7):
breaking down food including carbohydrates, fats and proteins into energy.
Biotin is extremely essential for hair, skin and nails.
It retains the natural colour of the hair and prevents breakage and hair fall.
Biotin is essential for the body’s metabolism.
FUNCTIONS OF FOLIC
ACID (VITAMINE B9):
it aids in the production of DNA and RNA, the body's genetic material
Preventing and treating anemia.
it maintaining the growth and replication of cells and tissues during the growing years such as during
pregnancy, infancy, childhood and adolescence.
minimize the risk of congenital heart defects, cleft lip palate defects, and other abnormalities during
the preconception period.
COBALAMIN (VITAMINE
B12):
Vitamin B12 is needed to form red blood cells and DNA.
It is also a key player in the function and development of brain and nerve cells.
Vitamin B12 binds to the protein in the foods we eat.
cognitive functioning
formation of red blood cells and anemia prevention.
FUNCTIONS OF VITAMINE
C:
•Form an important protein used to make skin, tendons, ligaments, and blood vessels.
•Heal wounds and form scar tissue.
•Repair and maintain cartilage, bones, and teeth.
•Aid in the absorption of iron.
