Content of Mercy Petitions
- Prodigal (wasted) son trying to come to parental
door,
- If released, I will be the staunchest advocate of
Constitutional progress and loyalty to English
government,
- I am ready to work in any role given by you,
- You are merciful…..
Savarkar & National Integration
After independence, Savarkar made policy of
Hindu Mahasabha not to interfere in decisions
of princely states.
Savarkar welcomed a separate “Sikhistan”.
When Dewan of Travancore, declared the
state independent, Savarkar sent a telegram-
“the farsighted, courageous determination to
declare this independence of our Hindu State
of Travancore”- ‘Veer Savarkar’ by Dhananjay Keer,

Savarkar took stipend of Rs. 60/- per month
from British govt.
When Savarkar was banned from going out of Ratnagiri
district of Maharashtra, he demanded Rs. 100 per
month as stipend for loss of his earnings and British
government granted him Rs. 60/- per month that he
received till end of his ban. – Savarkar, Father of

Savarkar was not a poor man. He got education in


England, had a big house in prime location of Bombay
and even his associates like Godse travelled by air,
which was a huge luxury those days.
Savarkar’s supported raping minority women

Savarkar justified rape as a logical political


weapon.
Refering to Ravan & Sita episode of Ramayana,
he said, “To abduct and rape the womenfolk
of the enemy, do you call it irreligious? It is
Parodharmah, the greatest duty!”

Savarkar starved himself to death in


1967.
In his Affidavit, VD Savarkar:
'Don't know any of accused at all'.
“Before taking Brahmcharya at 28,
Godse had only one known sexual
relationship. It was homosexual. His
partner was his political mentor, Veer
Savarkar”
