What is an airplane?

•An airplane is a vehicle that is propelled by

jet engines nowadays. But in some cases,
such as smaller airliners, they still use the
propeller design from the 1950s.
•Fun fact:
•Back in the 50s, flying was uncomfortable
and only the rich could afford it, compared to
nowadays where most of the population has
been on air airliner

Copy paper News paper Cardstock paper

• In this experiment, I'm trying out 3 paper airplanes. 1 made out of copy
paper, one out of news paper, and one out of the cardstock paper. The
goal is to see if the differences in the type of paper will affect the
results of how they fly.
My prediction
• Which one will stay the longest in the air?
• As per what I am seeing, I predict that the airplane made out of the news paper
will be in the air for the longest time. Why you may ask? This is because a heavier
object in the air has more downforce compared to a lighter one. By this, the
heavier object is pulled down quicker. And per what I can feel, the lightest one is
the one made out of the newspaper. From this I can conclude that the
newspaper will stay in the air for the longest period of time.

• Which one will fly the furthest?

• In the case of flying the furthest, I think that the cardstock airplane will do it. This
is because from what I can feel, the cardstock airplane feels the heaviest and is
the most rigid. Why may this affect the results? It impacts the aerodynamics of
the airplane itself. By this I mean the heavier and rigider a thing is, it'll be less
affected by air resistance making it able to fly the furthest compared to the other
2.

Conclusion:
• Compared to my predictions, my results were
actually very far off. Because, the copy paper plane
flew the furthest. Why may you ask? The only thing I
can think about it is that maybe the cardstock paper
didn't have a perfect weight ratio. It may have been
leased affected by the air resistance that was going
at it, but it may have been too heavy making it fall
to the ground faster.

As for the longest flying one, yes, I was correct

about the newspaper airplane. This is because, as
I've said before the newspaper airplane is the
lightest out of the 3. this caused it to have less
weight pulling it down. The downside of this is
because of how light it is, it's more affected by air
resistance/drag making it fly the least furthest.

In this scenario, there are a couple of things I could've improved

one.
They are:

Shape of nose cone because of how it changes during landing.

Regulating the amount of force being used to launch the planes.

Heigh of the launches.
