participation of workers in accident prevention, and promoting a safety culture in the organization.

 What is Accident at Work?
• A workplace accident refers to an unwanted and unexpected event that occurs during the

performance of a work activity and results in bodily injury or illness for the employee.

• It can be caused by factors such as unsafe working conditions, lack of training, negligence,

equipment failures, among others.

• Workplace accidents can range in severity from minor injuries to fatal accidents.

• The labor and social security laws of many countries require that workplace accidents be reported

and that adequate compensation be provided to affected employees.

 What is Work Incident?
• A work incident is an unwanted event that occurs during work but does not result in bodily injury or

illness.

• Work incidents are dangerous situations, abnormal events, or procedural failures that could have

led to an accident if the circumstances had been different.

• Examples of work incidents include near misses, exposure to hazardous chemicals, material

spills, non-injury falls, among others.

• It is important to report and analyze work incidents to identify underlying causes and take

corrective action to prevent future accidents.
