Measurement of the length, area and

volume
By Riyab Ali – 6B2
In nature measurement is common
Application of mathematics is very common for measurement of length surface, area and volume
depending on the dimensions
A dot has no Dimension
A Line has One Dimension
A Square has two Dimensions
A Cube has three Dimension
 Distance between one point to another has only
one dimension
For example:
 Distance between cities,

How lengths and  Height of tree or Plant

 Heigh of a Person
sizes are measured  Distance between cities are measured in
kilometres where as the height of a tree, or a
plant or a person is measured in meter or
centimetre
Height of Mountains
We have various units of measurements for length/distances such as
Millimeter, centimeter, meter, kilometer, miles and feet
Unit of measurement is dependent on the size of object
Height of a mountain is generally measured in feet
 Area of a plain surface with a shape of Square or
Rectangle has two dimensions: Length and Width
 For example: area of a Smart Phone or TV, area

How a square based

of room floor, area of table, door or window
surface.

plain surface is  The area of a plain square/rectangle surface is

measured by a mathematical formula

measured  Length X (times) Width

 Length X (times) Height

How volume of a Cube is measured
A cube has 3 dimensions, that is Length, width and height
Volume of an Cube is measured by a mathematical formula
Length X Width X Height
