Hinged joints

Hinged joints and pinned joints are two types

of joints that are commonly used in reinforced
concrete structures.A hinged joint allows for
rotation in one direction, while a pinned joint
allows for rotation in all directions. In R.C.C
structures, hinged joints are typically used at
the base of columns, where the column meets
the foundation. This allows the column to
rotate slightly under load, reducing the overall
stress on the structure.Pinned joints are
generally used at the top of columns, where
the beams meet the columns. This allows the
beams to rotate in any direction, reducing the
overall stress on the structure. Both hinged and
pinned joints are designed to allow for
movement in the structure, which helps to
distribute and reduce the stresses caused by
loads on the structure. This is an important
aspect of reinforced concrete design and helps
ensure the structural integrity of the building.
