Occupational Health and Safety (OHS)
• Is a cross-disciplinary are concerned with protecting the
safety, health and welfare of people engaged in work or
employment.
• It is essential to minimize the hazards and risks not only to
students, trainers and other people within the training
institution but others who will be affected.
Objective of the OHS Standard
• To protect working man against the danger of injury,
sickness or death through safe and healthful working
condition, thereby assuring the conservation of valuable
manpower resources and the prevention of loss or
damage to lives and properties.
Personal Responsibilities for Safety
• Observe all precautions related to your work
• Report unsafe conditions or any equipment or materials you think
might be unsafe
• Warn others of hazards
• Report any injury or ill health
• Wear protective clothing
• Be safety conscious
• Always inspect equipment and associated attachments for
damage before using.

SORT (SEIRI)
•TIDINESS, ORGANIZATION
•Taking-out and disposing unnecessary items
•Unneeded items are thrown away or disposed.
SYSTEMATIZE (SEITON)
•ORDERLINESS: Tools, equipment, and materials
must be systematically arranged for easiest
and most efficient access.
•Assign place for everything
•Arrangement
SWEEP (SEISO)
•CLEANLINESS: Cleaning even if things are not
DIRTY.
•Sweeping must be done on a daily basis
STANDARDIZE (SEIKETSU)
•STANDARDS: Maintaining the workplace in
high standard housekeeping.
•Allows for control and consistency
•IMPLEMENT a periodic clean-up schedule
SELF-DISCIPLINE (SHITSUKE)
•SUSTAINING DISCIPLINE: Doing things
spontaneously without having to be told.
•“Teach by doing”
•It is good discipline to leave the workplace
cleaner than when it is found.
