INTRODUCTION
WHAT IS A BIOSPHERE
RESERVE?

Biosphere reserves are 'learning

places for sustainable
development'.
WHAT IS FLORA
FLORA: Flora refers to
the plant life found in a
particular region. It is
naturally occurring for the
indigenous native plant
life.
WHAT IS FAUNA?
The term fauna represents
all the animal species
found in a particular region
at a particular time. These
are the naturally occurring
animal species of the
particular area.
WHAT IS THE ROLE OF
THE NILGIRI BIOSPHERE
RESERVE?

Being one of the hotspots of biodiversity, the

Nilgiri Biosphere Reserve has some national
parks and wildlife sanctuaries within its
boundaries. Conservation of wildlife is the
main objective of these national parks and
wildlife sanctuaries.
EXPLAIN ZONES OF THE NILGIRI BIOSPHERE RESERVE.
The Nilgiri Biosphere Reserve falls under the biogeographic region of the Malabar
rainforest. The Mudumalai Wildlife Sanctuary, Wayanad Wildlife Sanctuary
Bandipur National Park, Nagarhole National Park, Mukurthi National Park, and
Silent Valley are the protected areas present within this reserve.
THE CONCLUSION
Biosphere reserves are 'learning places for sustainable development'. They are sites
for testing interdisciplinary approaches to understanding and managing changes and
interactions between social and ecological systems, including conflict prevention
and management of biodiversity.
ACKNOWLEDGMEN
T
The biosphere provides the ecosystem
that is needed for survival. Adaptation
to the biosphere's climate is expected
for living organisms. Biodiversity
thrives within ecosystems, and the
biosphere is a reliable source of food on
Earth. Biodiversity is just what it
sounds like biological variety.
