Unleashing the Power of the Cloud:

A Journey to the Future

A presentation by: Shriya G, Joan, Sridip Basu, Harshitha, Jees
What is Cloud Computing?
• "Imagine the internet as a giant storage and computer system that you can use. Instead of keeping all
your files, pictures, and programs only on your personal computer, you can store them on this
'internet computer' called the cloud. The cloud is like a virtual space where you can access and save
your stuff from any device connected to the internet, like your computer, smartphone, or tablet.

• Cloud computing also means you can use software and apps without downloading and installing
them on your own device. Instead, you access them directly through the internet. For example, you
can create documents, edit photos, or listen to music without having to install specific programs on
your computer. Everything happens in the cloud, and you can access it whenever you need it.

• The cloud is managed by big companies that have powerful computers and storage systems. They
take care of keeping your data secure and ensuring it's available to you whenever you want. Cloud
computing is helpful because it allows you to access your files and use applications from anywhere,
collaborate with others more easily, and you don't have to worry about running out of storage space
on your own computer.

• In simple terms, cloud computing is like having a big virtual storage space and computer on the
internet that you can use to store your stuff, run programs, and access them from anywhere."
An interesting statistic!

•"Did you know that in a single minute, over

2.5 million gigabytes of data are uploaded
to the cloud? That's equivalent to streaming
83 years of HD movies in just 60 seconds!
Cloud computing has truly transformed the
way we store and access information."
Why cloud computing? (advantages)
• 1. Cost Savings: Cloud computing can significantly reduce costs for individuals and
businesses. Instead of investing in expensive hardware and infrastructure, you can pay
for cloud services on a pay-as-you-go basis, which helps in reducing upfront expenses.
Additionally, cloud computing eliminates the need for maintenance, upgrades, and
physical space, further reducing operational costs.

• 2. Flexibility and Accessibility: With cloud computing, you can access your files,
applications, and data from anywhere with an internet connection. It provides the
flexibility to work remotely or collaborate with others effortlessly. Cloud services also
enable seamless access from different devices, allowing you to pick up where you left off
regardless of the device you're using.

• 3. Increased Collaboration: Cloud computing facilitates collaboration by enabling

multiple users to access, edit, and share files and documents in real-time. This feature is
particularly useful for remote teams or individuals working on the same project. It
promotes efficient teamwork, version control, and eliminates the need for sending files
back and forth via email.
