Basic Elements - Body

 In dance the body is….


 The mobile figure or shape, felt by the dancer and seen by
the viewers.
 Changing as the dancer moves in places or travels through
the dance stage.
 Is the only thing required as Walter Terry (renowned dance
critic) wrote “No paints nor brushes, marbles nor chisels,
pianos nor violins are needed to make this art, for we are
the stuff dance is made of. Born, Exists and Dies in our
Body.
Basic Elements - Action

 In dance the action is….


 What a dancer does for example moving, traveling, turning
and use of body parts, stillness, gesture, floor-work and
transfer of weight.
 Also including of things such as facial expressions, flips,
carries or catches done with partners in a group.
Basic Elements - Space

 In dance the space is….


 The space through which the dancers body travels and
moves.
 The Pathway which the dancers require to move around.
 The size they have to move around the place and the
direction they move in.

 In dance the time is….


 Movement of dancers through time.
 Specifically through relationship of music, tempo, meter or
rhythm
Basic Elements - Energy

 In dance the energy is….


 About how the movement happens.
 Variations in movement flow and the use of force, tension
and weight are also energy.
Effect of Space and Time!

 The effect of space and time, the time refers to the perfect timing of dance moves
in sync with the music, while space refers to the space occupied or the movement
from space to space. In dance these elements are very essential because the timing
and movement of the dance.
Fitness is important for a dancer
because….
 A dancer will be lesser prone to injuries.
 More Active and will be able to stretch more which will add a better effect to the
dance as the dancer won’t be looking dull.
 It also pushes the dancers abilities to what they can achieve.

which we have done in our dance

 Our dance includes moves of things we do in our daily lives.


 A few of our moves….
 Are pushing our siblings head when they are troubling us.
 Are when a new driver is scared to drive his car and he crouches and he feels
confident again so he jumps back up.
 Are when the driver is cleaning his car and his car is fresh so even he is fresh.
