Cyberbullying
What is Cyberbullying?
• Mean, vulgar or threatening messages or images;
• Posted rumors, gossip or false information with the
intention of humiliating a person;
• Posted sensitive or private information about other
people
• Pretending to be someone else with the intention of
making that person look bad
• Intentionally excluding someone from joining an
online group.
Where does cyberbullying occur?
• Emails or Instant messages
(IMs)
• Text messages or digital
images sent via mobile
phones or gadgets.
• Web pages or blogs
• Chat rooms
• Social network sites such as
Facebook, Twitter, etc.
What to do?
1. Private – The Student’s social media account should be
set to private and assistance should be extended to the
students in managing their accounts' privacy settings.
2. Ignore – The student should understand why he/she
should not reply to cyberbully
3. Block – the student should block/report the person/s who
cyberbully/cyberbullies him/her if the bullying continues.
4. Screenshot – Take screenshots of the cyberbullying
incident for future evidence or reference for reporting and
case management.
5. Talk – to a trusted adult about any cyberbullying incident.
Cyberbullying can cause:
1) Depression
2) Isolation
3) Low self-esteem
4) Drug or alcohol use
and abuse
5) School Avoidance
6) Self- Harm or Suicide
Targets feel helpless because:
1) Cyberbullying can
occur anytime
and anywhere

2) Cyberbullies are
usually
anonymous
Be a responsible Netizen
1) Protect your privacy and respect the privacy of others.
2) Do not give out your personal information
3) Stay true to yourself and do not send anonymous
personal messages.
4) Stay true to your values and never write something that
you cannot tell someone face to face
5) Do not be a troll (i.e. some who post controversial
messages with the intention of starting an arguments)
